Business plan proforma spreadsheet

- This spreadsheet is a proforma for a carsharing enterprise with a single staff member earning a starting $40,000 salary and starting with 6 cars. In this scenario, a carsharing business can achieve profitability within 2 years, based on steady growth in membership and cars.

You can play with this spreadsheet and see different outcomes for profitability based on different assumptions fo membership, cars, or costs. Note that adding more cars generally increases profitability, since it allows more people to use the service and pay rates.

This spreadsheet is based on a proforma in carsharing consultant David Brook's 2004 research paper, "Carsharing – Start Up Issues and New Operational Models."

Dave Brook contacted me and sent me this spreadsheet (here) its the same as the one already posted but gives a little more detail.

Thanks for setting this up Matthew. I'll be making alternative transportation noises on my radio show ("Shaken and Stirred" WMPG 90.9 and 104.1 FM, fridays 10:30 - noon) and will include pertinent info from this wikithingy. Still not quite sure how to use it, but I'm sure all will come clear.

Meeting with Katherine Freund of ITN

As a “get you know you” session and to gather information regarding a possible supportive connection between ITN (Independent Transportation Network) and a car share in Portland, I will be meeting this Friday with ITN’s founder and executive director Katherine Freund. Those who attended the East End meeting will remember Katherine introducing herself and her assistant, and giving a brief description of her organization. I will post a summary of that meeting and possibilities for collaboration in the week following the meeting. I have included a link to her organization’s website below.
